Open-access (PMC mirror of MDPI Entropy 22(10):1082, 2020); fully fetched.

Key findings

  • Basic cycle exergy efficiency only 0.1013 (10.1%); adsorber thermal-coupling losses ~77% of total exergy destruction (root cause of low COP, not a tuning problem).
  • Mass recovery: useful exergy +18%; up to +24% COP and +37.5% SCP at 60 C heat source.
  • Heat recovery: cuts external exergy loss ~50%, exergy efficiency to 23.2%, +12.6% COP but -10.8% SCP at 60 C (tradeoff).
  • Combined heat+mass recovery: exergy efficiency 0.1389 = +11.3% over heat recovery alone, +37.1% over basic; optimal heat-recovery time ~60 s.
  • All mitigations strongest at low (60 C) heat-source temp, diminishing by 90 C.
